With the rise of global concerns over COVID-19, the film industry is just one of many in a state of upheaval. Announced today, both AMC and Regal will close all U.S. theaters, which totals over 1,200 between the two of them, for at least six to 12 weeks, effective March 17. In addition to theater closures, all the major distributors have been forced to move their upcoming releases, leaving something of a barren theatrical landscape looking forward. What began with the shifting of the release date for the next James Bond film, No Time to Die, from April 10 to November 8, soon became a tidal wave of date changes.
